Mortgage/Head of Sales

 

Summary:

The Head of Sales for the INB Mortgage business will lead a team of Mortgage Loan Originators to meet and exceed production, quality, profitability and customer satisfaction/experience objectives.

 

Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement while being responsive to an ever-changing, unpredictable set of circumstances including market movement, volume levels, loan characteristics, and secondary market requirements. This position is fast-paced, deadline driven, and requires exceptional attention to detail.

 

Essential Duties and Responibilties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Manage, develop, and motivate a team of 10 – 15 Mortgage Loan Originators, who today are located in Springfield, Peoria, Champaign, and Bloomington; the sales team also has several loan officer assistants.

  • Manage team to achieve production objectives, productivity goals, quality and compliance requirements, profitability targets, and customer service/experience expectations.

  • Provide assistance with structuring a loan when needed.

  • Help facilitate improvements to INB’s Loan Origination System (Encompass LOS) that enhance, simplify, and streamline the user (MLO) and customer experience.

  • Sales head will not produce loans…but acceptable in certain, limited circumstances.

  • Facilitate and manage marketing support, use of CRM tools (Unify and MBS Highway), lead-gen (Zillow, CINC, etc.), and social media.

  • Be visible in the various markets with the lenders…and with INB bank team, referral partners, and community organizations.

  • Recruit, hire, and train.

  • Coach, motivate, and support sales team.

  • Develop strong relationship with Mortgage Operations and Secondary teams and facilitate any issues to ensure a mutually-satisfactory resolution.

  • Develop strong relationship with INB Marketing team to help promote INB brand and mortgage business.

  • Develop strong relationship with INB Compliance team to ensure disclosures, denials, HMDA, etc. compliance.

  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state and local governments’, Fannie/Freddie/USDA/FHA/VA, and private investors’ policies and guidelines.

  • Maintain strong familiarity with current trends in the real estate and mortgage banking industries as well as INB’s operating policies and procedures.

Competencies

 

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  

Required experience, knowledge, and skills:

 

  • Four-year, bachelor’s/undergraduate degree.

  • 7 or more years of mortgage sales experience.

  • Knowledge and understanding of mortgage loans, programs, and pricing processes and procedures.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word applications.

  • Good customer service skills and ability to work well with others – internal partners and external relationships.

  • Analytical and math proficiency required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail necessary.

 

 

 

Previous experience, knowledge, and skills preferred:

 

  • Encompass loan origination system / Encompass LOS.

  • Encompass Product and Pricing Service / EPPS.

  • Optimal Blue or other pricing engine application.

  • Unify and MBS Highway (CRM tools).

 

 

 

Other:

 

This position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry ("Registry") and obtain a unique identifier from the Registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities, to maintain and renew that registration on an annual basis, to update registration information with the Registry on a timely basis, and to provide that unique identifier to consumers as required by applicable SAFE Act regulations and INB policies and procedures. As part of this registration process, you must be fingerprinted unless you have fingerprints are on file with NMLS Registry that are less than 3 years old.
